Australia’s English Language Test for Migration Just Got a Major Update
Here’s What You Need to Know What’s Changed?
As of 7 August 2025, the Department of Home Affairs has significantly updated the English language tests accepted for Australian visas. There are now nine approved tests—up from five.
New Accepted Tests:

CELPIP General (Canadian)

LANGUAGECERT Academic
-
MET (Michigan English Test)
These join familiar exams like IELTS, PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT, OET, and Cambridge C1 Advanced. More options mean you can pick the test style that suits you.
What About old Test Results?
If you took an approved test on or before 6 August 2025, their results may still be valid—up to 3 years, depending on the visa subclass.
